The PlayStation VR2, the next-generation version of the virtual reality headset from PlayStation, has received an official debut date and price information from Sony. For the PlayStation VR2, specific information has been made public, along with a list of the bundles and accessories that will be offered on launch day.
In 2016, PlayStation launched the first version of its cutting-edge virtual reality headgear, the PlayStation VR, which was available only for the PlayStation 4. After selling more than 5 million units, the PlayStation VR eventually gained compatibility with the PlayStation 5, albeit no games for the new console currently support the VR headset. Sony revealed the creation of the PlayStation VR2, which would be created especially for the PlayStation 5, at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show.
The new PlayStation VR2 and the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller charging station, built exclusively for the PS VR2 Sense controller, will be formally launched on February 22, 2023, according to Isabelle Thomatis, PlayStation’s Vice President of Brand, Hardware, and Peripherals. It has been announced that the PlayStation VR2 will cost $549.99 and come with a headset, Sense controllers, and stereo headphones. Although the PS5’s USB ports may be used to charge the Sense controllers, a separate charging station costs an extra $49.99.
PlayStation VR2 launches February 22, 2023, with pre-orders starting November 15.

Customers in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg will be able to pre-order only from the PlayStation online store starting on November 15, 2022. Players in other regions will be able to pre-order from participating local retailers on the same date. A combo version with a Horizon Call of the Mountain download coupon will also be available for $599.99. Resident Evil Village, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, and Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge have already been shown off by Sony for their upcoming VR releases. However, Sony has also revealed 11 new VR2-compatible games that will be released for the PS5 in 2023, including Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue and Jurassic World Aftermath Collection.
With the release of the PlayStation VR2, Sony’s next-generation virtual reality product, it is setting the standard for console VR technology. The latest model is expected to be a great smash for Sony given the success of the PlayStation 5, which became the fastest-selling PlayStation console of all time, and the strong sales and widespread appeal of the first PlayStation VR device. This new release will bring in a new era of virtual reality experiences for gamers to enjoy, if the VR2 doesn’t encounter supply problems similar to those that affected the PlayStation 5.
Release date for PlayStation VR2 is February 22, 2023.
