One of the big announcements at PlayStation Showcase 2023 was the long-awaited confirmation of the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. But at the end of this announcement, another equally exciting piece of news was revealed: the first three Metal Gear Solid games will be ported to PlayStation 5 in a presumably unique package.
A single image appeared at the end of the teaser for the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, with the words « Return to the original games on PlayStation 5 », announcing a release window of autumn 2023.
The pack is named Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1, suggesting that further Metal Gear games may follow. A Volume 2 could hopefully finally free Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots from its PlayStation 3 prison – the only platform on which this game has ever been available.
According to the game’s listing on PlayStation Store, the pack will also include the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. This is how the list of included games is formulated on the page:
