The news has been confirmed: Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear Solid series, will not be taking part in the development of the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, now known as Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The remake is supervised by Konami, with the help of porting team Virtuos Studio. Remarkable artist Yoji Shinkawa is not part of the production either. Despite the absence of these key figures, the development team is committed to delivering a high-quality remake that will be accessible to players on multiple platforms worldwide.
The decision to begin the remake process with Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was influenced by its chronological position in the game series. This game depicts the emergence of Big Boss, marking the beginning of the Metal Gear series. What’s more, fans have been expressing their desire for a remake of this particular game for some time.
Hideo Kojima’s return to Konami to work on the remake of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was always considered a remote possibility, especially after his conflict and subsequent departure from the company. Kojima currently heads Kojima Productions, where he is working on Death Stranding 2 for PS5. However, fans can still enjoy his work on Sony’s current-generation console with the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection which includes the original Metal Gear Solid on PS1, and the PS3 remasters of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.
